The PEI Fishermen’s Association says the DFO LFA 26A weather call was held Monday morning with PEI and Nova Scotia representatives taking part. Environment Canada officials were on the call and updated the forecast, noting low pressure system will gain more force Thursday into Friday with strong East and Northeast winds. There was agreement from all the PEI and Nova Scotia representatives to hold another DFO weather call on Wednesday to review the updated weather forecast for Friday and Saturday. The PEI Fishermen’s Association says it will continue to keep fishers updated on the latest calls and opening day info. In regards to LFA 24, with 4 harbours reporting sand issues, it’s been recommended that there be another Advisory Committee conference call on Tuesday afternoon to reassess the forecast and harbour safety. The Advisory Committee is requesting that the LFA 24 DFO weather call be postponed to Wednesday morning with an earliest possible recommended opening of Friday.
