UPEI with a nearly all first year lineup lost 1-0 to UNB Saturday night
The Atlantic Breeders Crown consolations were held on Saturday at Red Shores in Charlottetown.
Goodmorning Nova won the 2 year old fillies in 1.57.
Little Leroy in 1.58 in the colts.
In the 3 year olds, Woodmere Denny went the mile in 1.55/1 in the colts.
Rosetown Mary won the fillies in 1.57/1.
Woodmere Sheldon won the 14th in 1.56/4 for Jason Hughes.

The UNB Reds blanked the UPEI Panthers, 1-0 in a tight game in AUS men’s hockey. The only goal scored by Reds captain Jason Wilms late in the 2nd. The story of the Panthers home opener was first year goalie Joe Ranger who made 32 saves in the loss. Ranger is a Mississauga Steelheads and Sudbury Wolves OHL grad. He’s still wearing his pads from last season with Sudbury.
Prior to the game, UPEI honoured Billy MacMillan, who passed away in July with a banner raising with his family members and friends on hand.
Chicoutimi dumped the Charlottetown Islanders, 6-3 in the Q. Michael Horth scored his league leading 7th and 8th goals for the Isles.
Texas edged Baltimore, 3-2 as the division series in baseball began.
Rookie Evan Carter had an RBI double followed by Jonah Heim’s RBI single in the 4th inning.
Houston held off Minnesota, 6-4. Yordan Alvarez hit two homers after Jose Altuve’s lead off dinger. Jorge Polanco got a three run shot for the Twins.
Philadelphia won 3-0 in Atlanta. Bryce Harper homered.
Arizona shocked the LA Dodgers, 11-2, scoring six times off Clayton Kershaw in the first inning.
Holland College lost 32-23 at Dalhousie in Atlantic football.
Detroit edged Toronto, 4-3 in NHL preseason.
Montreal dropped Ottawa, 6-4.
The PEI FC boys lost 3-0 to Alberta in the Under 17s in the Toyota National Soccer Championships in Moncton. PEI plays Ontario today followed by a seeding game on Monday.
The PEI girls tied St. John’s, 1-1 and play Calgary today.
At the national Under 15’s, PEI FC boys blanked Saskatoon, 4-0 and play Coquitlam, BC today.
In the girls, PEI tied Fall River, 1-1.

Today is championship day with a 16-dash card that starts at 12.30. Malignity with a nine-race win streak will be favoured in the 13th race for three-year old pacing colts and a purse of $25,000.
The $35,000 Premiers Cup will be the final race of the day with eight invitational stars set to go.
During the weekend, prominent racing families in Atlantic Canada will be honoured including the Campbell family of PEI.
The New Brunswick Senior Baseball finals move to Game 5 today at Memorial Field in Charlottetown, weather providing at 7.00 this evening the Charlottetown Islanders and Fredericton Royals are tied, 2-2.
