As of about 1:00pm, Health PEI announced that a Code Orange that had been declared Sunday morning at Prince County Hospital was over. The Code Orange had been declared in response to a house fire with several patients being treated at the hospital.
Code Orange is called when a disaster or threat in the community is likely to require additional hospital resources. During a Code Orange, additional staff and protocols are activated to increase hospital capacity in order to respond to the event.
No further details have been made available regarding the fire.
