With a number of events planned this weekend in Charlottetown as part of the 2024 PEI Pride Festival, the City of Charlottetown is asking motorists to be aware of an increased number of pedestrians in the downtown area, and some planned road closures. The PEI Pride Parade is taking place today from 12-1 p.m. starting at the Provincial Government parking lot near Terry Fox Drive. The parade will travel along Euston Street, turning right onto Great George Street, Grafton Street, Rochford Street and left onto Fitzroy Street, where the parade will end. Road closures will be in place along the parade route and adjacent intersections beginning at 10 a.m. and will reopen following the parade.
There’s also the Rainbow Road Party, formerly Pride After Dark, taking place this afternoon from 4–11 p.m. on Kent Street. To accommodate the event, Kent Street between Great George and Prince Streets will be closed to vehicle traffic, inclusive of parking, through to 4 a.m. on Sunday.
