Summerside Police have made an arrest for Attempted Murder. Shortly before 8:00am on Saturday, Police were made aware of an incident at a home on Spring Street earlier in the morning in which a firearm was discharged. Police learned that the suspect in the shooting was still inside the home on Spring Street. Summerside Police and the RCMP closed several streets, cordoned off the area and issued an emergency alert with a shelter in place advisory. Shortly after 2:00 PM, crisis negotiators with the police were able to make contact with the suspect and negotiate his surrender, along with two other people in the home. A 32-year old man has been arrested for attempted murder, multiple drug trafficking related offences, and various firearms and weapons offences. A 32-year old woman has been arrested for pointing a firearm. A 65-year old woman was released from custody. Police say the victim was not injured — and it’s believed all involved know each other and the victim was not randomly targeted. The investigation is on-going.
