A shorter school year for Sherwood Elementary for transition to new school

This will be a shorter school year than normal for students at Sherwood Elementary School.  The final day of the current school year for Sherwood Elementary School students will be June 6th, which is about three weeks earlier than other Island schools. The early closure is to allow for the transition of the move into the new school being built next to the current school, the demolition of the older school and the work on the grounds, all in time for the next school year.  School officials say they’ve adjusted the school day by a few minutes each class and day to ensure students will still receive the same learning time between now and June 6th.
