The PEI Summer Slam in basketball continues in Charlottetown. The Scotia Sting won 84-58 over the PEI U13s Saturday
The Charlottetown Islanders continued their hot streak with a doubleheader sweep of the Royals in Fredericton on Saturday. The Isles have won five in a row and are in first place in the New Brunswick Senior League at 7-1. They hold a 2.5 game lead on Fredericton.
Nick MacPhail hit a grand slam in the opener as Charlottetown won, 10-2. Brady Arsenault got the win.
Duncan Picketts homered in the second game as the Islanders won 7-3. Brody MacDonald picked up the win.
The Texas Rangers doubled the Toronto Blue Jays, 4-2. Dane Dunning got his 6th win. Josh Jung hit a two run homer. Jonah Heim and Corey Seager also homered. Daulton Varsho got his 12th dinger but the Jays offense continued to sputter.
San Diego shutout Tampa Bay, 2-0 as Blake Snell struck out 12.
The Cubs edged the Orioles, 3-2. Nico Hoerner had two run double for Chicago. Adley Rutschman hit a two-run shot for Baltimore.
The Yankees-Red Sox game was rained out in Boston.
San Francisco bombed the LA Dodgers, 15-0. J.D. Davis hit a grand slam.
The BC Lions are 2-0 in the CFL West blanking the Edmonton Elks, 22-0. Quarterback Vernon Adams completed 12 passes including one for a touchdown.
There’s a tie for the lead at the US Open in Los Angeles after 54-holes. Rickie Fowler, who shot a 70 is tied with Wyndham Clark at 10 under. Rory McIlroy is just a shot back entering the final round. Fowler missed a 3 ½ foot putt on the 18th which forced the tie.
No Plan Intended won the Saturday night feature at Red Shores in Charlottetown in 1.53/4 with Jason Hughes driving. He had three winners on the card.
First Glance with David Dowling also won n 1.53/4 in the 12th.
Racing resumes on Tuesday night in Summerside
Its My Show with Scott Zeron behind won the 40th Pepsi North America Cup in 1.47/4 at Woodbine-Mohawk Park in the million dollar race.
