Rupinder Pal Singh says about 20 people from a group of foreign workers protesting recent changes to Prince Edward Island’s immigration rules have returned to their home countries. The spokesperson for the group says about 250 people have been challenging the provincial government’s decision to change immigration rules that were in place when they arrived on the Island. The protesting workers received support yesterday from BIPOC USHR, the Charlottetown Area Christian Council and Cooper Institute which hosted a news conference. A spokesperson for Workforce, Advanced Learning and Population Minister Jenn Redmond says nothing has changed since the minister told protesters in a June 18th letter that there would be no changes to the province’s immigration policy.
