An update from Northumberland Ferries on the situation with the ferry service it’s providing between Wood Islands and Caribou, and the MV Confederation, which was damaged in an incident Sunday. A mechanical issue caused the vessel to collide with the wharf at Wood Islands when the crew was attempting to dock. Firstly, the sailing schedule today with the MV Saaremaa 1 will see crossings from Caribou at 7:00am, 10:00am, 1:30pm and 5:00pm; and from Wood Islands at 8:30am,,11:45am and 3:15pm.
Northumberland Ferries says the damage is considerable to the bow visor on the MV Confederation, and it won’t be a simple or quick repair. It’s not clear yet though how long those repairs will take. The ferry company is expecting that it will be moving the MV Confederation to a local shipyard — potentially as early as Tuesday.
