The City of Charlottetown’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting will take place tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Confederation Centre of the Arts Plaza, on the Grafton Street side. The event begins with a candlelight promenade, leaving from Founders’ Food Hall & Market at 6:15 p.m. If you want to take part in it, you should meet outside the market between 6 and 6:15 p.m. to pick up a candle. The walk will be led by the Confederation Centre of the Arts Youth Chorus, who will sing Christmas carols as they lead participants up Great George Street, Victoria Row, Queen Street through the Victorian Christmas Market, finishing at Grafton Street in front of the Christmas tree. The Tree Lighting ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. There will be live performances by Island artists Alicia Toner, Dylan Menzie and Inn Echo.
