Owner and Creator of Rosewolf Creations

Imagine if the items we wore every day were more than just cloths, but a piece of culture and history. A story that you yourself have lived with its value and honour expressed on fabric. Imagine if simply wearing a hat or putting a bag over your shoulder allowed that story to be shared for all to see. That is what Annie Martin is accomplishing.
She did not begin with a business plan or a blueprint, she began with a feeling. Growing up, she was surrounded by family who showed her the power of resilience and self-determination. This shaped a quiet certainty that she would one day build something of her own. That certainty found its form through pyrography, the art of burning designs into natural materials. What started as careful lines on wood slowly grew into leather, cork, hats, and bags. With every new surface came both a challenge and clarity: she was not simply creating art, she was telling stories.
Annie is a Mi’kmaq artist, and her identity lives within every design. She draws inspiration from the pull of the ocean tides, the hush of forest paths, and being in awe of the moons subtle glow at a very young age. Her designs echo Mi’kmaq roots through symbolism, the double curves, natural motifs, and inspiration drawn from traditional designs. She does not replicate tradition, she honours it. Each piece becoming a bridge between past and present, between identity and expression.
Over time, Annie’s work became more than art, it became connection.
Her business, RoseWolf Creations, was born from that intersection of culture, creativity, and courage. People came to her seeking custom pieces to mark important milestones of their lives, moments of healing, celebration, and self-expression. Annie listened. She carried the stories into her work, helping them step into confidence and identity. In that process, her purpose became clear: to connect, empower, and inspire.
Within RoseWolf Creations Annie was not only the artist, but also the strategist, marketer, shipper, and visionary. Yet, her greatest challenge wasn’t wearing many hats (literally and figuratively), rather it was internal. She had to learn that it was okay to take up space, to call herself an artist, to believe that she deserves to succeed. That quiet, personal work demanded as much strength as building the business itself.
Her courage and impact have not gone unnoticed. Through RoseWolf Creations, Annie was named Indigenous Artisan of the Year by the Tourism Industry Association of Prince Edward Island, a prestigious honour recognizing Indigenous artists whose work strengthens the cultural and creative identity of the province. She was also awarded the TIAPEI Indigenous Artisan Award in 2025 and the Atlantic Indigenous Entrepreneur Award in 2026, recognizing her growing influence as both an artist and a business leader. But to Annie, the truest success is saying yes to opportunities that once felt out of reach, and becoming the person she once only imagined she could be.
Some of the most powerful moments arrive quietly. Seeing Indigenous people wear her hats at gatherings, ceremonies, conferences, and on Red Dress Day, a day of honouring Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People. It reminds her that her work has become something larger than herself. Her work has become pride, it has become remembrance, it has become connection.
Annie comes from a long line of strong women. Today, she stands among them, building something that carries their strength forward. RoseWolf Creations continues to grow on Prince Edward Island, reaching across Canada and beyond, yet it remains rooted in the land and community that shaped her. You can find Annie herself attending local Island markets, connecting with people from all walks of life, bridging a gap through the connection of creation. Her work is proudly displayed at the Indigenous PEI store and featured as a 2025 PEI Fashion Week runway designer. You may have even seen her working a booth at CBMF and SOMMO.
She is still evolving, still learning, still creating.
With every line that she burns into being, Annie Martin proves that taking up space fully, courageously, unapologetically, is its own kind of power. She hopes to see more Indigenous women take up that same space in business, leadership, and creative industries.
