JACK FROST WINTERFEST, presented by Island Coastal, is back and is slated to take place all throughout downtown Charlottetown, creating an incredible clustering of walkable winter programming. To celebrate its 15th anniversary, organizers are working hard to surprise visitors with a very unique edition. From February 14 - 17, 2020, Maritimers of all ages are invited to enjoy the refreshed version of this popular winter festival.
This year, JACK FROST’s magic is being spread over five different downtown venues: the Snow Kingdom at Confederation Landing, the Indoor Playland at The Delta/PEI Convention Centre, Onstage children’s shows at Confederation Centre of the Arts, a Warm-Up Zone with local food, drinks and crafts at the Founders’ Food Hall & Market, and finally, the magical evening of Aurora on Victoria Row (Richmond Street). The mainstage at the Confederation Centre of the Arts will feature YouTube sensation and the 5th most-viewed video of ALL time, the one and only Baby Shark performance.
While kids and families are still at the core of JACK FROST’s programming, this year organizers want to invite everyone, including teens, millennials, and all the kids at heart to join in the wintery fun. While Jack’s famous outdoor snow kingdom and all the other festival favourites will be back, visitors can expect to see extreme sled demos, gaming stations, a snowskate park, axe throwing, a disco skate, and tons of more high energy entertainment. Founders’ Food Hall & Market is also working with organizers to create some winter embracing programming, including Happy Hour with DJ’s and an outdoor patio with ice bar with firepits.
To make this edition the coolest JACK FROST ever, the board of Capital City Events, a group made up of volunteer community stakeholders, teamed up with Tribu, a Montreal-based company which specializes in producing fun, adrenaline-filled events. Tribu’s mission is simple: create life-changing experiences that sparks conversations and lasting bonds.
You may have seen Tribu’s CEO Micah Desforges on Dragon’s Den, heard of their JACKALOPE extreme sports fest or enjoyed their BARBEGAZI winter festival, which has been a Montreal staple for the last eight years.
The event has been made possible with support from the Atlantic Canada Opportunity Agency, the Province of PEI, the City of Charlottetown, the Charlottetown Special Events Reserve Fund, Discover Charlottetown, Downtown Charlottetown Inc., and the Hotel Association of PEI.
Tickets and hotel packages will be available for purchase online from Tuesday, December 10th at jackfrostfestival.com.
