Canada Day in PEI

Communities of Prince Edward Island celebrate Canada Day in a large way with local talent, music, face painting, birthday cake, parades and fireworks at dusk. And because Canada Day falls on a Monday, it's perfect timing for a summer getaway. 

Come to the Island and wave your Canada flag proudly at any one or many of our community celebrations from west to east:

North Cape Coastal Drive 

• The Tignish Irish Moss Festival includes Canada Day celebrations at Bicentennial Park and the Royal Canadian Legion.
• Celebrate at the Stompin' Tom Centre with music celebrating this Canadian icon beginning at 3:00 pm.
• Enjoy entertainment by Jamie Matthews, play BINGO, book sale and more in O'Leary. The splash park will also be open if it's a hot day.
• In Summerside, enjoy a fun-filled day with live music on stage beginning at 2:30 pm until fireworks at Green's Shore at 10:00 pm. 
• Also in Summerside, Enjoy a three-day Seaside Seafood Celebration in The City By The Sea from June 28th – June 30th! 

Central Coastal Drive

• The charming Town of Kensington hosts a day of fun at the railyard with step dancing, a petting zoo and live music starting at 12:15 pm. Browse the Kensington Art Gallery and look for the mural at the bandstand.
• North Rustico is a local and visitor favourite with a street parade, all-day musical entertainment, boat parade and a fireworks finale over the harbour.

Capital City Area

• The Town of Cornwall will host a full day of activities with a healing ceremony at the Terry Fox Complex Circle of Peace and concluding with fireworks at Hyde Pond at 10:00 pm.
• Celebrations in the Town of Stratford begin with a pancake breakfast hosted by the Lions Club at 7:30 am and followed by a youth run. 
• The City of Charlottetown will begin the celebrations at Victoria Park at noon until fireworks at dusk.

Points East Coastal Drive

• In Cardigan, a parade with the theme of “Clowin' Around” with kick off a full day of activities and music. 
• In Murray Harbour, ceremonies begin at 1:00 pm with music by Killick Junction and a water bouncy castle (please wear swim suit).
• In Souris, the day is filled with free events: children’s fun, live entertainment, a boat parade of lights and fireworks.
