Poll for Nature Conservancy shows most Canadians want a focus on biodiversity loss

A poll conducted by Ipsos Public Affairs for the Nature Conservancy of Canada shows 88 per cent of respondents believe all of society needs to work together now to focus on biodiversity loss. Last week’s release of the Wild Species Report, compiled by the federal, provincial and territorial governments, shows that more than 2,200 species of plants and animals in Canada are at risk of being lost.  The poll also found that 95-percent of people say conserving and caring for nature is personally important to them; and 80-percent are worried that future generations won’t have access to nature close to where they live.  Here in PEI, one of the recent projects for the Nature Conservancy of Canada is the protection and care of Kwesawe’k, also known as Oulton’s Island.
