One day after Tuesday’s federal budget, Agriculture Minister and Cardigan MP Lawrence MacAulay was discussing what it means for PEI. In regards to housing, he says key measures in the Budget include a $400 million top-up for the Housing Accelerator Fund, which he says is to this point leading to the construction of over 4,700 homes across PEI over the next ten years. Macaulay also points to investments in child care, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, small craft harbours, and Pituamkek.
Macaulay says that through the Budget, the government is taking action to freeze ferry fares until December 2025 and negotiate a continued toll freeze on the Confederation Bridge over the next two years.
