A ceremony will be held tonight at 7pm at St. Paul’s Hall on Prince Street in Charlottetown to remember those who have died or were injured because of a workplace accident or work-related illness.
The National Day of Mourning has been held every year since 1984 and is now observed in more than 100 countries.
Sadly, in 2023, one Islander lost their life due to a work-related injury or illness.
Jim MacPhee, Chair of the Workers Compensation Board said The WCB is dedicated to continuing its work to build safe and healthy workplaces and prevent further work-related fatalities, injuries and illnesses from happening.
