Sunday was the National Day of Mourning, which is observed each year on April 28th to honour the memory of workers who have been injured or lost their lives through a workplace tragedy. The PEI Federation of Labour held a ceremony last night at St Paul’s Hall on Prince street, with a wreath laying ceremony that followed at the Day of Mourning Monument. Premier Dennis King issued a statement Sunday to mark the National Day of Mourning. He says every worker has the right to return home safe and sound at the end of the day, and that by working together we can prevent worker injuries and deaths before they occur.
